Benjamin Johan Byrnell was born in Edmonton, Alberta and raised in a small Alberta town. He graduated high school when he was 17 and was later accepted to the University of Alberta and attended their Augustana campus in Camrose for one year. He took a major in Drama and minor in English literature where he received an award for excellence in the drama program. Byrnell switched schools to Vancouver Institute of Media Arts (formerly the William Davis Centre for Actor's Study) after he was accepted on the spot following his audition with department head Chilton Crane. He took their one year intensive program in Acting for Film and T.V., during this time he learned aspects of several acting techniques including Meisner, Hagan, Stanislavski and Adler. He graduated from the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts' Film & T.V. program in September of 2019 and was signed shortly after under Lucas Talent with Jodi Caplan.
