Derek Bjerke

Derek Bjerke is an independent film director from Wisconsin. He has uploaded work to YouTube, Linked In and Vimeo under the name 'Blank Canvas Indie Films'. He is currently working on a documentary short film titled "The Art Of Indie", which is about the production of independent films in Minnesota. Derek has interned on a couple different sets of independent local films since November of 2019 as a grip, gaffer, slate, background actor, 2nd AC and production assistant. Derek currently works as a production assistant, grip, and 2nd AC for ProMedia on a freelance basis. He has also done freelance editing work such as shooting and editing a video for the Century College library. He has also edited an interview package for behind the scenes promotional material on a local independent film titled "The Ballad of Travis Hunter". Derek graduated High School in May of 2019 and began at Century College in August of 2019. He studied filmmaking with the VCC department and graduated in May of 2022. Derek is now seeking a full time job as an editor. He is also working on his own alternate cut of a student film that Derek and his classmates made titled "Sypher" (originally edited by his classmates). In the near future Derek will start writing his first independent film.
