Tim Dougherty has taken a circuitous route to the big screen. It has been an adventure filled trail that filled him with the emotional knowledge required for this demanding new career. Tim grew up in Queens, the youngest of three. He's grateful for his close knit family, taking particular joy in his niece and nephews, and the worth ethic instilled in him. His discipline and hard work in a variety of pursuits have readied him for the road ahead. After graduating from St. Francis Prep, Tim earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree in 2009 from SUNY Maritime and obtained his USCG Marine Engineering license. While at Maritime he pursued an early passion, basketball. He had a successful varsity career, scoring over 1000 points on the hardwood. After graduation, Tim headed to sea shipping out for several months at a time, mainly on container ships to the Middle East. In his 'off time' from the sea Tim entered the world of amateur boxing where he distinguished himself in many tournaments, most notably as a Golden Gloves contender, runner up in both the heavyweight and super heavyweight divisions, fighting on such major stages as Madison Square Garden and The Barclay Center. Tim is also proud of his poker acuity, but he has yet to win 'the big one', the tourney he's dreamed of. However, he did gain mention in the book, "The Kaizen of Poker: How to Continuously Improve your Hold'em Game' by Sheree Bykofsky. So Mechanical Engineering? Ship? Basketball? Boxing? Uncle-ing? Poker Playing? Now Acting! In the course of his adventures, Tim had often been asked if he was and actor or model. He would laugh and say, "Me? I'm an engineer." But on one particular voyage in December of 2017 Tim spotted a casting call for "The Irishman" on the internet. He answered the call hoping for a background slot thinking the experience would be fun. He wasn't cast in that movie, but intrigued he kept answering casting calls. Eventually he found himself in an online commercial as a male nurse, then did featured background work on the show "Sweetbitter." Upon seeing this Hollywood set and being involved in this one scene, he was fascinated and wanted to do more. Soon after he was on set for a film, "Eclipse: The Rise of Ink" by Alexander Bok. Unfortunately, the lead character had an emergency the day of filming. The director, pressed for time, approached Tim as a stand-in! And that was it, Timothy Dougherty, actor! Tim is continuing to audition, take acting classes, and has had some more opportunities to get more acting experience while working full time as a marine engineer in NYC. Thus far, he has studied with David Deblinger, Paul Pryce, and Vincent Pastore at HB Studio in the west village. He has also studied at the New York Film Academy. He aspires one day to make the transition to a full time actor.
