Dr Shemin Balachandran Nair is a filmmaker and a cinematographer, academic, completed a practice led PhD in "Indian Transcendentalism in Cinema" at University of Central Lancashire, UK. He is originally from India, down from the Southern tip of India, Kanyakumari, Cape Comorin where three seas unite to form a locale to a paradise of nature. His childhood is very much influenced by the literary and philosophical realm of his Grandfather Thumbacode Chandrasekharan Nair. He is destined to integrate the practice aspects of filmmaking to academic research methods. He has collaborated both as a filmmaker and cinematographer in many international projects and won several awards. The recent projects include Tide of Lies a feature film shot both in UK and India. Shemin has written, directed and shot the film. He is the DOP for the Kurdish feature film Quicksands, set in the UK and Kurdistan, directed by Awat Osman Ali. Shemin worked as a location photographer for the film Cleft Lip directed by Prof. Erik Knudsen. He has also worked in some non-fiction pieces on a vibrant spectrum.
