Ryan Pethrow was born on January 20, 1982, in Sofia, Bulgaria as Zdravko Stefanov Petrov. He is a Bulgarian actor, stunt performer, and a photo model. Ryan (Zdravko) is named after his grandfather, Professor Zdravko Georgiev, a famous Bulgarian hematologist. His mother, Isabella Georgieva, was a translator in NATO and the European Parliament, translated many books from French, and was also the president's translator. His father Stefan Petkov was an artist in the full sense of the word, he was an actor, artist, writer and he made and painted sets in the theater, he also practiced woodcarving. Ryan has a younger brother by the same parents and an older sister by his father, but he doesn't know her. Ryan knows he has more siblings on his father's side in France, but he doesn't know them either. In 1986, his father left their family and emigrated to France during the communist regime, which created problems for the family. Moreover, he does so, even though he knows that years earlier, the brother of Ryan Pethrow's grandfather, the famous UN diplomat Ivan-Assen Georgiev, was declared an American spy and an enemy of Bulgaria and was killed by shooting, his father, knowing that, the whole family is under surveillance by the secret services of the communist regime for this reason, but he still leaves! When the communist regime falls, his mother was invited to go to Belgium, as a translator. In 1990, his family moved to Brussels, Belgium. There in Belgium it is difficult to pronounce his name Zdravko, and they start calling him Zane, Zee, and so on, but one of his best friends invented Ryan because he looks like an Irishman. So Zdravko started using the nickname Ryan Pethrow instead of his name Zdravko Petrov. In Belgium, Ryan falls in love with video games, manga, and anime. He also became interested in sports, so he began to practice various sports, such as basketball, baseball, football, badminton, table tennis, archery and crossbow shooting, indoor climbing, and others. He also began acting as an actor in the school theater, where he played in various theatrical productions for five years. He plays a variety of roles, such as serial killer, action hero, prince, crazy man, and many others ... After a few years in Belgium, he returned to Bulgaria with his family. He enjoys acting, but after returning to Bulgaria, because of various circumstances, he has to stop acting for a long period. Returning to Bulgaria, he finds himself in a situation almost like in the Wild West! The mafia and the wars between separate groups are in full swing, there are constant killings on the streets. On his 15th birthday, Ryan moved out of his mother's home due to a misunderstanding with his stepfather and settled with his grandmother Lilia Georgieva, who supports him and believes in his talents! In order to fit into the situation, he starts fighting, drinking, and smoking, and only because it is modern. At the age of 15, he started training hard in the gym and did powerlifting and bodybuilding. For a period of 1 year, he also went boxing. Due to the fact that he spends a lot of time in the gym and does not get tired of training all day, he is nicknamed "the beast"(zviara in Bulgarian) and "the machine"(mashinata in Bulgarian). In 1998, to protect two friends, he got into a fight with seven people who attacked him and two of his friends, in a moment of rage he injured most of the people and things were going badly! After the incident, one of the friends he defended gave him the nickname "the crazy one"(ludia in Bulgarian), due to the fact that he faced seven people alone, this nickname still sits in the neighborhood where he grew up. Ryan regularly did extreme things, climbing wherever he could, running and jumping over rooftops, and constantly risking his life to feel alive. In the summer of 2003, he fell badly from a bicycle and broke his arm, so he had to stop all sports activities in which he had been engaged in the last few years semi-professionally, so he met the future mother of his child. He falls in love, but alas, she tries to change him and slowly separates him from everything he loved to do and his friends. On November 22, 2004, his son Nikola Petrov was born with a severe heart malformation. The child needed care and Ryan decided to concentrate only on raising his child. In 2010, Ryan's health suddenly began to deteriorate and after a misdiagnosis, he decided to go to Belgium for treatment. They help him quickly and he enjoys life again, but his girlfriend invites him to come home and he does. After his return to Bulgaria, however, things got worse again and in 2012, after a wrong medical intervention, he contracted an unknown infection, which made it difficult for him to move and he remained in serious condition and in bed for almost 3 years. Doctors make all kinds of diagnoses but to no avail. On November 10, 2015, his grandmother Lilya Georgieva died suddenly, and only a few months later, on June 3, 2016, his mother also died suddenly, only 59 years old. In 2016, he was diagnosed with degenerative foci in his brain. For unknown reasons, he also loses his normal sense of touch, pain, smell, and taste. After the death of his loved ones and the discovery of degenerative foci in the brain, Ryan decides that life is fragile, unpredictable, and short, he decides that he has to fight to recover. After a lot of effort and willpower, he gets to his feet and even started training. Because of everything he's been through, Ryan is completely free of mind and starts living day by day and doing the things he loves without worrying about people's opinions, which sets him apart from most people. Ryan decided to pursue acting again, but also to by stunt performer, so in 2019 he enrolled in a stunt course taught by Adam Horton at Nu Boyana Stunt Academy. The course takes place at Nu Boyana Film Studios, Europe's largest film studio, where action stars and their stunt crews have shot hundreds of powerful battle scenes in franchises such as The Expendables, Olympus Has Fallen and Hitman's Bodyguard. After successfully completing the course, he decided to continue training at Nu Boyana Stunt Academy. He also started acting again. So he started participating in various commercials, film productions, and short films, but working as a model photo too. In 2020, Ryan decided that he wanted to officially change his name from Zdravko Petrov to Ryan Pethrow, but the process was slow and complicated in Bulgaria. Moreover, the most famous serial killer in Bulgaria is called Zdravko Petrov like him, Ryan doesn't like that at all and hopes that they will approve his request and change his name officially. In January 2020, the Bulgarian young and talented director Niki Stanchev invite Ryan Pethrow to join his new film "Snowcrawler", offering him to be a stunt-actor incarnating the monster of the film. The shooting for Ryan only last a few days, but Ryan has fun, going crazy, and having a great time.
