Jose Batista-Ayala

Perth Amboy made me, New York raised me, Washington Heights saved me and now the Bronx loves me. I am a half Dominican, half Puerto Rican performer, storyteller, and overall creative. Mostly self-taught and self-made, I've written plays, poems, one-man shows and have danced salsa semi-professionally. I've also had a t-shirt line (which I learned photoshop on my own for), made a short film (after teaching myself how to edit footage) and I've even had a (short-lived) vid/vod/pod-cast. The bottom line is: I've told a lot of stories, in many different ways because I was and still am, open to trying anything creative at least once. My work includes FRiENDAMiGO The Play, Drunk on Love: A One-Man Variety Show, Poetr+omedy: A One-Man Dra+medy, The Cruising Monologues, the play and the short film, The Funny Flight Attendant: A One-Man Show and the (very low budget) docu-short-film titled Team Salsa Nueva York - just to name a few.
