Maya Witters

Maya is a London-based film director and writer. She was born in Leuven, Belgium and moved to London after graduating in English Literature and European Politics. Initially working as a journalist and copywriter, Maya's interest shifted from words to images, and the idea to write and direct a film took root. She wrote her first script, The Turtles, in early 2019 and started production on the film the same summer, taking on direction, executive production, fund-raising and most practicalities. The film was finished in the spring of 2020 and entered a successful film festival run. As of 2020, Maya is attached to an as yet unnamed short film as a director.
