Jan Marcos

Jan is a Florida native known for playing hearing and deaf roles. Born with bilateral, moderate to severe hearing loss, he wears hearing aids and speaks orally. His Spanish background originates from Venezuela and Ecuador. He is learning American Sign Language to embody his roots. Jan's considers his deafness a gain to his craft and it drives him to challenge the norm and change the perception of what it looks like to be Deaf. His vulnerability and experiences with living with his disability taught him how to see things in a different perspective. With this power, he is able to channel his emotions and bring forth raw and authentic characters on screen. He is an advocate for increasing representation of actors with disabilities on screen to remove stigmas and stereotypes places on them. He envisions a world were people with disabilities will be viewed as normal and included in all aspects of TV/Film. He sees his role as an actor to inspire others with disabilities to come out and express themselves freely and become their own role model. His inspiration comes from growing up as a little boy who said had no role model from TV/Film because there was no one like him; who was Deaf and wore hearing aids.
