Paulette Tenae Carlson is an American country singer-songwriter, who rose to fame in the 1980s Her unique and big, expressive voice and relatable song writing style combined Country with Rock, creating a new sound making Country popular music for listeners everywhere. As the lead vocalist for the country band Highway 101, they charted four No. 1 hit singles, and seven Top 10 hits. They won Group of the Year Awards for 1988 and 1989 at both the Annual Academy of Country Music Awards and the Annual Country Music Association. They were twice nominated for Grammy Awards for Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. As a solo artist, she has charted five times on Hot Country Songs and recorded three studio albums. In 2004, when her brother Gary, a Vietnam War veteran, was in the hospital, Carlson was inspired to write a song called "Thank You Vets". She recorded a new album, writing 10 of the 12 songs. She toured again after recording this album dedicated to our Vietnam Vets, doing mostly benefits for Military Veterans. Today, Carlson has returned to Nashville from her home in Montana, performing and doing tours. She is also returning to her Minnesota roots as a Minnesota State University - Moorhead theater student with a desire to become an actress too.
