French-Russian filmmaker Alexandra Dalsbaek was a free-lance journalist based in Moscow when she met and got inspired by a troupe of young theatre actors with Down Syndrome. Their journey to stage a musical version of the Cinderella fairy-tale became her debut feature documentary "Cinderella Syndrome". The film premiered in Moscow at the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center and was shown in several cities across Russia. It was also selected to participate in the 2020 edition of the International Film Festival on Disabilities in Lyon, France and broadcast via the online TV channel RAIN. In 2017, stirred by the extraordinary risks taken by young opposition activists in the run-up to the Presidential elections in Russia she began her second film "We Are Russia". The film premiered at the Visions du Reel International Film Festival in April 2020, and is slated to have its North American premiere at DOCNYC in November 2021. She is based in Moscow.
