Lauren Ashton Baker is an American writer, actress and dancer from Los Angeles. She was born in Northridge, California, and is of Irish, Italian, Colombian, and Ecuadorian decent. Lauren began studying ballet when she was only three years old, and danced competitively up until high school. From 2005-2008, Lauren worked as a child actor in several pilots and television shows before her family moved to Dallas, Texas. In high school, Lauren participated in theater competitively, and was also actively involved in audio video production, choir, and writing contests. Several of Lauren's short films and plays from high school have been featured in national competitions in Austin, New York, Europe, and other festivals. Lauren moved to New York City after graduating high school to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts on an acting scholarship. During her time there, she auditioned for the California Institute of the Arts, and transferred after her first year in New York. While at CalArts, Lauren studied acting, but also took many hours of stop motion animation, film history, and playwriting. She graduated from CalArts in 2019 with a BFA. In 2019, Lauren wrote and directed a play that premiered at the Hollywood Film Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. The project was met with positive reviews, earning five stars from the Feminist Fringe. Broadway Baby found the show to be "powerfully written and directed with elegant simplicity". She also completed a project with Walt Disney Imagineering, working as a collaborator with other CalArts alumni. Currently, Lauren resides in Los Angeles, where she works as an actor, writer, dancer, and creative artist.
