Annemarie (A.M.) Lewis is an American actress and director. She grew up in the small, rural town of Enfield, New York with her mom and sister. She pitched, wrote, and hosted the award winning series about western water, "We are Rivers," for the largest environmental NGO of its kind: American Rivers. After two years and not wanting the series to die, she happily passed it onto writer Fay Hartman when she went to college. As of 2020, her podcasts have had over 100,000 listens, educating a wide variety of people about western water history, policy, and uses. This series was the beginning of A.M.'s journey into the art of audio storytelling, which eventually turned into audio-visual storytelling. While majoring in Organismal Biology and Ecology at Colorado College, A.M. spent her free-time writing scripts and novels. Unfortunately during this time, her jaw erosion (now treated) prevented her from what she most wanted to do: acting, but she approached this challenging and emotional blockade by instead getting behind the camera. She spent any time that she wasn't cramming for biology tests and exams by playing with cameras and creating short films that others acted in. Finally, during her senior year, she fundraised thousands for a feature film she wrote and directed about suicide, a topic that had once defined her childhood with the loss of a care-giver and her mom's depression. Much of A.M.'s work now covers issues and topics she experienced or saw as a child, and she owes much of her artistic goals and creativity to it. In 2020, despite no formal acting training aside from small school plays, she performed her first major role as the lead (Joey White) in the feature film, "All The Beautiful Things," set to release in July of 2021. Her artist statement is as follows: "Even if only for the duration of a book or a movie, a well-written story has the potential to somewhat transcend divisions by reminding us that we are all human. Good movies are supposed to remind us that we all love and lose. For a moment, we see the world as the main character.
