Juanie Fowlkes is a rising writer/producer who uses her own disastrous love life as inspiration to merge love and Black womanhood into authentic stories filled with levity for the small screen. She is currently in pre-production on her short, "Hopeless" where she serves as writer and executive producer . She is also the SA on THEM on Amazon Prime. Juanie is the founder of Kinfowlkes Media as well as an intimate and safe networking space she created for emerging Black women in entertainment called Kinfowlk. She has served as a mentor and thesis committee member for the MFA program at California State LA and teaches as an adjunct professor at California State LA and Elon University. Before landing her current role on THEM, Juanie was a Co- EP Assistant on Lovecraft Country's S2 Mini Room. She was selected out of thousands of applicants as a 2021 Hillman Grad Mentee headed by Lena Waithe and Rishi Rijani and is a mentee of Gina Prince-Bythewood. Juanie is military brat from Alabama and attended Howard University from 2012 to 2016. She later transferred to the University of DC where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and became an International Leadership Fellow. She graduated with her BA then went on to AFI where she received her MFA in Screenwriting. She spent her early twenties traveling to Eastern Europe, South America, and the Caribbean as a part of collegiate singing ensemble. She enjoys all types of pasta, romcoms, bi-weekly massages and throwing dinner parties.
