Richard Iyasere (born on 22 August 1968) in Urhonigbe is an American born Nigerian from the Bronx. He is well-known for his Akwete dance style that he used in popularizing the Edo Funk music genre that was originally created by a Nigeian prominent musician Sir Victor Uwaifo. Richard Iyasere is the founder of an American based entertainment company DaddyRich Productions. He was rated as most popular Urhonigbe indigene after he consecutively campaigned against the British Government to return Edo Peoples's stolen artefacts during Benin Expedition of 1897, which he succeeded in retrieving part of some stolen artefacts to Edo People. He is recently a board member of the Bronx Community. In 1983, Richard attended Urhonigbe Grammar school to further his education at Immaculate Conception College with Edo state Government scholarship.1999, he graduated at The City University of New York - Bronx Community College. Richard was born into the Iyasere family of the Kingdom of Benin , a Royal Palace of Oba of Benin chief. He received accolades from Bill de Blasio for Africa diaspora hero in 2014 , also received one of Edo State highest cultural awards, "Edo Excellence award" for Edo Patriotic of the year, presented by Sir professor Victor Uwaifo in 2021.
