Inessa Gordeiko was born in Grodno, a city on the border between Lithuania, Poland, and Belarus; this has contributed to its multinational culture. To escape Lukashenko's regime, she had to move to Italy, where she studied at the University of Bologna and the National Academy of Cinema. Among her teachers were also Peter Greenaway and Vittorio Storaro. "Knockdown - the suicide format", her first feature movie, is defined as an "avant-garde film, thanks to which the author has written a new chapter in cinema because not only hints at new lines of cinematographic language but defines them clearly" (Ugo Di Tullio, film critic). She has been called "the Leonardo Da Vinci in woman version of this third millennium" (Louis Siciliano, composer). Thanks to this project, Inessa demonstrates that the aspect ratio is a new and powerful element of cinematic language. There is no need to choose in binary mode between horizontal and vertical: it can also be variable. The aim is to isolate the visual core and exalt the narrative needs in their dramatic essential progression. The innovative expressive technique gives the normal vision the revolutionary character of a new experience that turns out to be both natural and imperceptible. Among the latest challenges faced by the director we can name the series of multimedia performances "NY Salon Resonance" based on a polyphonic synthesis between music, poetry, painting, and cinema.
