Jason van Tonder has been acting from a young age growing up in South Africa. He found himself with plenty of time to work on his craft while quarantined for four months at the start of the pandemic. He gained a lot of attention while being quarantine at sea on the cruise ship he had been working on. From his cabin on the ship off the coast of Florida, Jason began using the popular app TikTok as his outlet and self-expression. His 'point-of-view' and 'acting challenge' videos gained millions of views/likes. This, combined with his striking resemblance to Johnny Depp, launched his continually growing verified account of 3.5 million subscribers (and counting), brought in multiple sponsorship deals as an influencer, and am expanding film acting career. His debut short film, 'Surprise' was a pandemic-friendly production by being filmed entirely over Zoom. Directed by Madison De La Garza of Desperate Housewives. Written and produced by British writer and filmmaker Max Marlow, 'Surprise' has already gained attention and anticipation ahead of its projected release date. The production has been covered by Variety magazine and brought about several radio interviews for Jason in South African news. His combined social media platforms provides Jason van Tonder with an audience of millions who fervently support his already obvious raw talent and growing career.
