T. Samaya Murali

T. Samaya Murali is an Indian Revenue Service officer. He was born and brought up in the Thanjavur district of Tamilnadu. He is interested in Tamil literature, he has written a lot of short poems and written lyrics for Tamil songs. He produced Tamil independent song albums namely " panthamizh magale " with music director satiish Chakravarthy, "Appavin peranbiley " with singer Divya Ramani and music director Navneet Sundar, " Chella Kutti " with music director satiish Chakravarthy. He is presently directing a short film named " Shakthee ". He has done his graduation from NIT Trichy in B.Tech Chemical Engineering. He joined the service in the year 2008. He has extensively worked in the area of Anti evasion / Anti smuggling and booked various cases of duty evasion, smuggling of gold/drugs/cigarettes/wildlife like red sanders n parts of wild animals, etc amounting to hundreds of crores. He has received wide appreciation for his commendable work from senior officers and chairman CBIC. Recently Secretary-General, World Customs Organisation awarded the certificate of merit on the occasion of International customs Day to T Samaya Murali for rendering exceptional service to the International Community. He has co-authored a book on the heritage of Chennai Customs titled Sunkam: The heritage of Chennai customs published by the department. This book gives an account of customs activities carried out from ancient times to the present. He has co-authored a paper titled World Customs Organisation and global trade: imprints and future paradigms was published in the world customs journal in 2020. He has also co-authored a paper titled Humanitarian Customs: Lessons learned regarding customs response and role in supply chain continuity during COVID -19 pandemic, which was presented at the World Customs Organisation PICARD conference in Nov 2020.
