Chris Kolenda

Retired Army Colonel Christopher D. Kolenda is the founder of the Strategic Leaders Academy, has worked with leaders who want to apply military and history lessons to create sustainable growth and dramatic competitive advantage. Colonel Kolenda is a graduate of the United States Military Academy (Class of 1987). He holds a Master of Arts in Modern European History from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the US Naval War College and a Ph.D in social sciences from King's College in London. He has been the editor and co-author of Leadership: The Warrior's Art which is on the official reading lists of the Army and Navy. In addition, his articles have been published in the Weekly Standard and numerous professional journals such as Naval War College Review, Military Review, US Naval Institute Proceedings, and the Armed Forces Journal He's served as an adviser to three 4-star generals and two undersecretaries. He has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, CBS, BBC, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, among others. His battlefield leadership has been featured in several books, including Jake Tapper's bestseller The Outpost. His books include Leadership: The Warrior's Art, The Counterinsurgency Challenge, and Zero-Sum Victory: What We're Getting Wrong About War.
