Gurinder J. Singh

Gurinder J. Singh is a New York based award-winning filmmaker (corporate lawyer by day) whose love for cinema began during her childhood years watching Bollywood films when she and her brothers helped run the family video store. As a first generation Indian-American, Gurinder is intimately aware of the struggles that come with straddling different cultures and tackles social issues and topics that are not often discussed to help effect positive change in the world. As is evidenced by the diverse cast and crew Gurinder works with, she is deeply committed to supporting individuals with diverse backgrounds, including women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Gurinder's debut short film "Rising Lotus" recently won the "Best Short Film Award" at the Nice International Film Festival and the "Best International Short Award" at the FascinAsian Film Festival. As of June, 2022, the film is in the festival circuit and has been accepted in 32 film festivals worldwide, already receiving several accolades. Gurinder has also won several best director awards, including the Audience Award for "Best Director" at the Eastern Europe Film Festival, the Outstanding Achievement Award for "Best Director" and "Debut Filmmaker" at the Druk International Film Festival, "Best First Time Director" at the Only the Best Film Awards, Honorable Mention for "First Time Director" at the Milan Gold Awards, among others.
