Virgil Pinkley was the editor and publisher of the Los Angeles Daily Mirror and later the Mirror-News from 1948 until 1957. During that period he hosted television and radio news programs. He is best known for his role as moderator for the Editor's Roundtable, which had a 120-episode run over three years on the NBC Los Angeles affiliate television station. As a journalist he covered the Berlin Olympics in 1936 and the Italian invasion of Ethiopia. He was in charge of news operations for the United Press in Europe during World War II. He also covered the war in Asia and North Africa. He died in 1992 at the age of 86.
