Born in Buffalo, NY, Tony was raised in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA after his parents moved from Cheektowaga. His parents, Anthony Nicolazzo, Sr. and Sharon (Sprucebank) Nicolazzo were a middle-class couple who were focused on raising their children to be family-oriented, community-serving and well-rounded. Love, respect, honesty and hard work were the foundation on which Tony and his sister, Dawn Marie were brought up. Mom and Dad were both intelligent and artistic, with Mom a former child-dancer and twirler and Dad, a musician since the age of four. Tony Jr. idolized his Dad, who was a phenomenal accordionist, organist, keyboardist and singer but drums and singing ultimately drew him to music. He developed his talent as a drummer in high school and college, and started to focus on singing in college and throughout adulthood. Tony never considered himself an actor, but boasted a few stints in corporate training videos in the 90s. He is more comfortable behind the mic as an announcer, emcee and vocal performer. His claim to fame amongst friends and family is his "Barney the Dinosaur" voice impression (singing and speaking) as well as many other character voices, both organic and cloned. His involvement in the community includes church, scouting, school and the community parks and recreation. Known as "The Pool Guy", he was asked to play "Dave," a brief cameo role in a 3-minute short titled, "The Break In", written, produced and filmed by the future great, Anna Segar. Filmed on-location at the world-famous, Gateway Heights Swim Club", Tony provided unprecedented off-season access to the grounds in order to provide the back drop of a seemingly vacated and unkempt swimming pool and facility. Ms. Segar's short earned her recognition from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, and will prove to be the stepping stone to her cinematography greatness! As of 2022, Tony resides in Monroeville, PA with his wife, Laura and children Emma and Andrew. Laura and Tony lend their vocal talents as members of the St. Barbara Catholic Church Choir (located in the Greensburg, PA Diocese). Emma is a middle-school English teacher who also is an accomplished singer and theater actress having played "Ella" in the 2017 performance of Cinderella at Gateway High School. Andrew attends RIT, where he is studying CyberSecurity. He too is an accomplished percussionist (drum set and marimba), played "Adam" in the 2021 production of "The Theory of Relativity" and one of the "Tall Brothers" in the 2020 production of "The Drowsy Chaperone", both at Gateway High School.
