Yas Kolathayil

I am a techie by profession and moved into the world of cinema to make a broader impact and to support my long standing passion for filmmaking. I took a course from the New York Film Academy (NYFA) and that launched my journey into film making. Since then, I have completed 2 short films and a feature film. I consider myself a Writer Director as I write my own screenplay. My most recent full length feature film, AnGsT, is being submitted to film festivals. My goal in life is to create movies that are based on events rooted in reality involving different cultures. I believe that these stories are not adequately represented in American Cinema and offer plenty of dramatic moments. As a filmmaker from a South Asian background, and who has lived in the US for 2 decades now, I offer a unique perspective that can bring these fresh stories to light in a very poignant manner. In my free time, I write poems, spend time with my family, watch movies and travel around the world.
