Jacob Charles Clarke was born in Bournemouth, Dorset. Son of theatre actress Joanne Clarke, Jacob attended the Avonbourne Academy, where he made his acting debut as Friar Lawrence in a production of "Romeo & Juliet". Despite starring in several roles at school, Jacob was drawn to the creation of art, rather than the performance of it. Inspired by directors Guillermo del Toro for his stylistic color, Hayao Miyazaki for his one-of-a-kind imagination and Scott Derrickson for his dark toned horror; upon gradation Jacob enrolled at the BIMM Screen and Film School, specializing in directing and screenwriting. Jacob made his directing debut with the dark fantasy short film "Touch Green, Taste Black"; and has just wrapped directing his follow-up short, the political thriller "the Man They Call King."
