William Thomas Doss

William Thomas Doss on 17 September 1893 in Appomattox County, Virginia, USA to W H Doss and Nannie Austin Doss (nee Austin); being one of three child (Mattie L. Doss and Laura Ann Doss). He was a carpenter by trade but during the depression he worked in a shoe factory. He enlisted in the US army in World War I. He was married to Bertha Edward Oliver, with the couple having three children - Audrey Doss, Desmond T. Doss and Harold Doss. The couple's grandchildren are the son of Desmond T. Doss - Desmond Doss Jr.; daughters of Harold Doss - Jeannie and Carol Ann; and son of Audrey Doss - Ronald Wayne Millner. Doss appeared in the 1959 episode of Desmond Doss (1959) , about the life of his son Desmond T. Doss . He was portrayed by Hugo Weaving in the 2016 Mel Gibson movie Hacksaw Ridge (2016). Doss passed away on 21 November 1989 in Lynchburg City, Virginia, USA.
