Born in Hampshire, Philip Quinton grew up in Teesside. He studied Audio Visual Design at Longlands College of Further Education in Middlesbrough, Media Production at West Herts College in Watford and Music Production at South Thames College in London. He worked as a Technical Assistant for LWT/The London Studios and as a VT Technician at Channel Four Television before going on to work for Viasat Broadcasting/MTG as an Ingest Editor and Transmission Controller and moonlighting as a Music Recording Engineer for a number of London-based bands and solo artists. As a result of his studio work he was invited to assist the sound department on the shoot of an indie feature film called After Death (2012) (a.k.a. Death) in 2011, which led to a variety of work on a number of other productions. By 2016 the Sound Recording/Sound Design work was getting more frequent so he quit work to go self-employed as Sound Recordist/Boom Op and Post-Production Sound Generalist. In 2019 he was nominated for an RTS Award for Professional Excellence. He now lives back in Teesside and is married to Ruth Quinton. They have two children, Josh and Noah.
