Amy Maghera is a British actress, born in Milton Keynes, England. Her Mother is of Indian (Punjabi) descent and her Father is Scottish and English. She speaks Hindi as well as English; her Mother tongue. Her work uniquely spans across the UK, international and Bollywood, TV and film industries. Her latest feature film SKATER GIRL , in which she plays a lead role, has been acquired by Netflix and is slated for a worldwide release in 2021. Other recent work also includes starring as series regular, Neeta Kaur, in the popular, prime time TV show HOLLYOAKS in the UK. She can be seen playing a lead role in Pan Nalin's female-centric, critically acclaimed feature, ANGRY INDIAN GODDESSES. The film's awards include; first runner up at the 'People's Choice Awards' at Toronto International Film Festival, where it had it's world premiere and received a standing ovation. It also won 'The People's Choice' at Rome International Film Festival. Her performance was described as 'tender and compassionate' by film critic Subhash K Jha. She has also guest starred on other prime time TV shows in the UK, such as BBC's CASUALTY and can be seen in Bollywood feature film TIME TO DANCE, directed by Stanley D'Costa released in India in March 2021. While acting is her passion, she actually began her career as a professional dancer (dancing for the likes of Kanye West). It was whilst working as a dancer in a Bollywood film in Mumbai, that she was scouted by one of India's biggest talent agencies , Matrix, which led to her moving to Mumbai and quickly gaining immense popularity in the Indian commercial, fashion, and film industry. Her work there, includes a five year deal with India's largest high end cosmetics and skin care company, 'Lakme' and starring in dance feature film, MAD ABOUT DANCE (presented by globally renowned Bollywood actor, Sha Rukh Khan) and Punjabi Hit comedy film GOREYAN NU DAFFA KARO. She has also appeared in FHM, GQ and Vogue India and was tagged as one of the most promising faces by Harpers Bazaar India.
