Born in Los Angeles, California and raised in New York City, Chad began acting professionally at the age of twelve. He attended the High School of Performing Arts (Fiorello H. La Guardia), and NYU/Tisch School of the Arts. He was a replacement actor in the first national tour of the Broadway musical, In The Heights. He is the son of songwriter and producer, Victor Carstarphen.
