John Taschner is a writer, director, and producer. Many of Taschner's films have been experimental or environmentally sensitive, including ocean-themed documentary films with coastal and underwater cinematography. Several films have been selected at American and European film festivals. Taschner's dystopian thriller Gen RX, about a global health epidemic, was directed while Taschner was a University student, and was recognized by the Republic of Sierra Leone for assisting in education and funding efforts to combat the Ebola Virus in West Africa. Taschner's most recent film, an experimental documentary filmed on location in Morocco, was a winner at the London Film Awards. Taschner has worked as a first-responder in marine rescue for several years, served as an appointed member of a NOAA National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council, with expanding use of drone technology in filming, marine safety, and protection of the Ocean environment. Taschner interned in the Washington D.C. Office of United States Senator Brian Schatz, and served on the American Bar Association's subcommittee on drone technology and regulation.
