He joined People International Model Agency in Paris at the age of 17, and then moved in the United Kingdom in his early twenties. Armel Evrard spent a happy childhood in the region of Loiret (France). In 1990, he was diagnosed with McCune-Albright syndrome. The following year, he underwent a surgery on his skull to avoid blindness, which disrupted his schooling for a year. Fan of black and white movies he dreamed of acting. Watching a late documentary on contemporary art, he discovered for the first time two artists (Andy Warhol and JM Basquiat) that sealed and confirmed his love for the Arts. He then revealed his artistic talent as a pupil in a catholic boarding school where he met his favorite teacher Martine. Martine was a key element in his artistic debut. After completing his higher education he briefly went back to modeling which was quickly ended by his health condition. Frustrated and defused, he finds comfort in theatre and painting. In 2006, he co-founded Dunia Yetu (Swahili for "in our own world"), an art organization dedicated to creating, producing and performing creative work, and developing drama-based activities in schools. His involvement in Dunia Yetu allowed him to incorporate acting and dance in several project. The Company was funded by the Collide commissioning project for the Collide Festival 2007. During the festival Dunia Yetu presented a theatre piece entitled "In His Shadow" at the Drum Theatre in Birmingham. Taking part in the project has given Armel Evrard the opportunity to work with different artists and organisations including Birmingham Library and schools. He was a first tenor at The Birmingham Icknield Male Voice Choir (BIMVC). Pain, Frustration, Humiliation and Determination have influenced the emotional content of his paintings and writings. Armel Evrard has allowed the Arts to transform his life. Armel Evrard has also worked in MFL departments in secondary schools where he taught French. He is still represented by Norrie Carr Agency.
