Matthias Starte

Matthias was born in 1984 as the oldest of three brothers in Lower Saxony, Germany, where he spent his childhood and youth. In 2006, after his German secondary school exams and his first experiments in filmmaking on his own, he moved to Munich to study "Film Directing" at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences and graduated in 2009. Since then, Matthias has directed numerous Shorts, Moodfilms, Musikvideos and Commercials - including his award-winning thesis short "Jenseits der Linie" (engl. title: "Beyond the line"), that premiered within the shocking shorts section at the Munich International Film Festival 2011, was elected "Short of the Month" in November 2010 by the FBW (an official German institute for valuating film on cultural importance) and was shown on many national and international Film Festivals. In 2015 he gave his feature film debut with "Nirgendwo". Since 2012, Matthias is working as freelancing writer/director for several film- and commercial production companies in Munich.
