Vanda Ciuban Serban

Born on the 24th of September 1981 in Viseu de Sus, Romania, as the second child of writer Gavril Ciuban and decorator Lidia Ciuban Serban. She made her acting debut at the age of 14 in theater. Left her hometown at the age of 15 to go learn painting at the Art High School in another town in Romania. Met Alex Pop in 1998 and they started to work together on many projects (books, theater plays, screenplays). Vanda has played many characters in theater including male characters. She published two books (a poetry volume "Random Joys" with Alex Pop in 2006 and one with her father Gavril Ciuban - "Stratinerii", prose, in 2010). She got some literary prizes for poetry and prose. She also writes film scripts. Alex Pop and Vanda Ciuban Serban got married in 2001 and they have two daughters, Antonia Iulia, born on the 16th of July 2006 in Romania and Melody Anita, born on the 21st of March 2012 in Montreal. Moved to Canada in August 2009 and she got her Canadian citizenship in July 2014. In 2009-2010 took acting classes with the Danish acting teacher Otto Heise-Jensen, at 101 Studio in Montreal. Speaks Romanian (mother tongue), French and English. She also understands Hungarian.
