Biography

Richard is a South Asian/Indo-Canadian screenwriter/actor, Writers' Guild of Canada member, and an alumnus of both the WGC Diverse Screenwriting Program and the Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) Kid's TV Writing Bootcamp. He has written for the television cartoon 16 Hudson (TVO), was a story editor for Miss Persona (Treehouse), and co-created/wrote the Chinese-Canadian digital series Sudden Master (OMNI/Rogers). He co-created the South Asian comedy series Kandu Attitude (JFL ComedyPRO Pitch Finalist, WGC Diversity Script Of The Month) and wrote the Caribbean-Canadian dramatic film Maternal (CBC Reflections). Richard's acting credits include Jett (Cinemax), Taken (NBC), Kim's Convenience (Netflix-CBC), Endlings (Hulu-CBC), and The Strain (FX). Born just outside Toronto Canada, Young took a circuitous route to the arts, completing a BSc. in Psychology (Queen's University) and an MBA (Schulich/York University) before pursuing his passion full-time.
