Emma Kinni was born in Helsinki, Finland, but traveled throughout her childhood across west and southern Africa after her diplomat mother. At the age of eighteen Emma moved to Southampton, England, to complete a degree in Film Studies. Emma wrote, directed and produced her first short, 'Triumph', in 2011, which went on to win an award at the Californian Best Shorts competition, and premiered at Screentest Festival 2011. Her second short, 'John F. Smith', is currently in consideration at several festivals. Emma is in preproduction of her third short. Emma counts Pedro Almodovar, Quentin Tarantino, Xavier Dolan and Wes Anderson as heavy influences in her work. She also relates strongly to British filmmakers in the likes of Sally Potter and Terence Davies. Emma directed her first feature film 'Miracle Grow' in June 2012. Post-production is in its final stages. Release is planned for late 2012. Emma is assistant director for Simon Savory in his debut feature film, 'Bruno & Earlene Go To Vegas', shooting in LA, Vegas and Nevada desert in September 2012.
