Chantelle was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to immigrant parents from the Philippines and South Korea. She knew she wanted to be an actor since the age of 4, after seeing Tia Carrere in Wayne's World - the first woman who looked remotely like her - on screen. After high school, she attended Mount Royal University's Theatre Performance Diploma program in Calgary, acquired an agent and started working steadily in theatre, film, television, and voiceover. She became best known for her turn as Janet in the nation-wide tour of Soulpepper Theatre Company's runaway hit, Kim's Convenience. Since then, she has cut her teeth starring in multiple stage and screen roles earning her acting award nominations in both comedy and drama, recently winning a Stinger Award for Best Long Form Performance as the lead in the existential feature, Circle of Steel. With a standout appearance in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, she has also recurred on British miniseries Departure (starring Christopher Plummer and Archie Panjabi), will feature on the upcoming season of Netflix's zombie series Black Summer, and has just wrapped shooting her second lead role in a feature film, Peppergrass, slated for the 2021 major festival circuit. Chantelle is an advocate for equitable representation, inclusion, and access in the Arts. She has recently branched out into theatre directing and is proud to lead a cast and creative team of 100% IBPOC artists this year.
