Rafael Urban is a cinema director and producer based in Curitiba, Brazil. His films were presented in festivals in 27 countries, in events such as Rotterdam, Locarno, Chicago and Brasília. Ovos de Dinossauro na Sala de Estar (2011) was presented in 140 film festivals and was chosen Best ShortFilm of 66th Edinburgh IFF (2012). His first documentary as a producer, O Touro (2015), directed by the moviemaker Larissa Figueiredo, premiered in the 44th IFF Rotterdam. His company, 'Sto Lat Filmes [br]', runs the project Núcleo Criativo Aqui e Lá, that develops the screenplays for five first feature-films under the tutoring of the Argentine Lucrecia Martel and the Brazilian Karim Aïnouz. Urban is one of the directors of the TV Series Sound and Time (2017), which will broadcast in Canal Brasil. He studied Journalism and History of Modern and Contemporary Art and teaches cinema at Cuba International Film School. He also coordinates the project Ficção Viva, which runs workshops in Brazil with accomplished filmmakers such as Carlos Reygadas, Miguel Gomes and Pedro Costa.
