Wajahat Abbas Kazmi is an Italian filmmaker and Human Rights activist of Pakistani origin who works in collaboration with Amnesty International. Among the founders of "Il Grande Colibri" NGO, he fights alongside LGBT people in the Muslim world and makes films on social issues. From his website: Being an Italian filmmaker of Pakistani origin, I had witnessed social injustice throughout my childhood while living in Pakistan. During the study of The History of Scandinavian Cinema , I realized that how powerful cinema can be as an institute to bring social change to the World. The work of Federico Felllini, Roberto Rossellini and Ingmar Bergman inspired me a lot. Through films like Rome - Open City, and Persona, 1940's European cinema under the charge of these great auteur filmmakers played a big role to bring social change in post World War years.
