The daughter of Palestinian-Australian migrants, Yasmine was born in Kuwait and lived in Jordan, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon. Yasmine found meaning and escape with the films of Jean-Jacques Audiard, surrealist writers like Charlie Kauffman and Michel Gondry and the Danish dark comedies of Anders Thomas Jensen. Inspired to become a story-teller, she dedicated herself to learning the craft. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications Arts with an emphasis in journalism from the Lebanese American University. Compelled to take transition jobs such as writing for lifestyle magazines to show her parents she had her life set, screenwriting became her escape from the mundane. Yasmine then attended the International Film School Sydney, where she made eight short films in two years of which her graduation film, 'The Opposite of Solutide' was officially selected at the White Sands International Film Festival in New Mexico. Shortly after, she worked as a TV segment director at Roya TV, a film editor for the award-winning feature documentary The Council (Al Majlis), assistant editor for Mahmoud Massad's Blessed Benefit as well as a list of miscellaneous production and acting jobs in Sydney and Jordan. Yasmine is currently a Scriptwriter for New Arab Media Games in Berlin.
