Paulo Chavarría (b. 1979) was born in Costa Rica, and graduated with honors in Social Communications Sciences at the Universidad de Costa Rica, and also upon receiving his Masters degree in Screenwriting at the University of Bergen, Norway. He started his career in the world of advertising in 1999, where he was hired while still a student, by the biggest postproduction company in Costa Rica. Since then he has worked as a freelancer in many areas; screenwriting, project development, directing, photography, editing and sound. He has received several awards at the Costa Rican Film Festival, and his directorial debut was labeled by the newspaper La Nación as "the success of this year's film journey" (2005). Since 2007 he has worked mainly in Norway, and since august 2010 Chavarría has been attached as a director to the production company Flimmer Film AS. There he has written and directed the documentary series "Forgotten Heroes" and "Death - a series about life". The latter is filmed in 25 countries and sold to 15 territories
