Kevin Murphy Walunas (Salem, MA) is a filmmaker and stage director born and raised in Framingham, Massachusetts. He attended Framingham High School, where he graduated in 2008 with honors in fine arts, as well as receiving a North Shore Music Theatre Spotlight Award in Technical Excellence. While in high school, he interned for the US Army, providing IT support, and social media design until 2011. He attended Salem State University, receiving his B.A. in Art + Design in 2012, graduating cum laude. Early in his Salem State career, Kevin was the Media Director for the hip-hop group The Dean's List, doing rapid development of digital branding and video for social media. He was then proposed with directing an early music video for the group, "Super Fresh". He completed three music videos, which were later not used due to a shift in musical styling. He left the group in 2010 to finish his schooling and pursue his theatre career at a more full time pace. It was then he started producing short films, using resources in both the Art and Theatre departments at Salem State. Kevin was award the 2011 Salem State University Center for the Creative and Performing Arts Artistic Development Grant for his work on the CampusMovieFest Salem State Best Picture short "No More Fallen Heroes". Kevin directed his first stage production, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead by Bert V. Royal in early 2012 at Salem State University. He also produced a number of digital ads for Salem State during his senior year, as well as directing and producing a 3D short, "Pitching".
