Known as "Lan Phuong" Born in Hanoi, her father's teaching work took the family to Grozny, Russia at the age of 7 for a year before returning back. At age 10 the family moved to the southern port city of Vung Tau for her father's work in oil and gas industry. The oldest with one younger brother. Her talent grew as did her notoriety at 18 Phuong moved to Ho Chi Minh City to study and begin her acting career. Her "break" came with the Vietnamese version of Ugly Betty, playing Mai Lan the fiancé of Betty's dream man. Numerous roles in TV, Film and Theatre have made Phuong a household name. These have brought multiple nominations and awards (Golden Kite, HTV Award, Blue Stars), ultimately winning Vietnam's top award - VTV's Best Actress 2018 for her role as Dieu in "Ca mot doi an oan" (A lifetime of love and resentment). Outside of acting Phuong has been invited regularly on various Vietnamese lifestyle and community talk shows, game shows, sports commentary panels, celebrity judge on public talent shows, both TV and Radio. Amongst many activities: Christina Noble Children's Foundation (CNCF) Volunteering at the HCMC orphanage International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), US Department of State Promoting social change through the arts Asian-Pacific Children's Convention in Fukuoka, Japan (APCC) First joined in 1998 as a Junior Ambassador and later in 2008 as a Peace Ambassador till date. A civic movement fostering the idea of a Global Citizens through a cultural exchange between 45 countries meeting in Fukuoka. Goodwill Ambassador, JICA in Vietnam Raising awareness of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)'s work since 2015, on their work to combat human trafficking and remote area infrastructure development. Ambassador of Munakata, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan Since October 2016 Phuong has visited regularly and contribute to the promotion of Munakata tourism to key sites such as the Munakata Shrine, Shimbaru-Nuyama Tomb groups, Okinoshima island among others, to Vietnam and the South-East Asian nations. Her contribution to raising awareness helped these places of historic significant gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 2017. At the invitation of the President of Vietnam, she also took part of welcoming the Japanese Emperor and Empress to the Presidential Palace during their state visit of March 2017. Phuong is married to Australian-British husband David, and they have a daughter Lina Linh. They reside in Hanoi.
