Northern Irish born Dympna switched from journalism in London in the 1990s to acting and dabbling in comedy stand-up. Her first film directing was 'Paper Lips' (2010), a teenage-coming-of-age comedy written by Ali Oxtoby and screened at Hay-on-Wye British Film Festival. In 2015 she wrote, directed and produced pilot episodes of sitcom 'Off Grid' for both radio and TV. Her short period drama 'She Wanders' (writer/director) was awarded Honorable Mention at The Jane Austen International Film Festival 2020. Her script Wool was commended in WOFFF2020 (Women Over Fifty Film Festival) and Caledonia short script competitions. She directed the short Wool - Bound by his rules, she begins to unravel - which is in 2021 festivals (inc LIFF and Romford).
