Geneticist Nathan Pearson has long teamed with fellow scientists and science-curious layfolk -- from historian Henry Louis Gates, Jr., to journalist Carl Zimmer, entertainer Steve Harvey, and rocker Ozzy Osbourne -- to explore what our DNA says about health and history. Trained at Stanford, the University of Chicago, and in planet-wide genetic fieldwork, he led scientific outreach at the New York Genome Center before founding the crowd science portal Root, to empower blood donors and other crowd scientists to drive discoveries for common good, via well grounded insights from their own DNA. An avid photographer and writer on the side, he tweets as @genomenathan.
