Screenwriter and playwright Liisi Rohumae is best known for her play APART that premiered both in Estonia and Toronto. APART ran for over a year, with a major daily Estonian newspaper saying "Liisi Rohumäe's writing has found that fine thread that connects those who left their home country and those who stayed behind." The reviewer goes on to call the play "compulsory viewing". Liisi also wrote the Raindance Film Festival Best Debut Feature Nominee BAD HAIR FRIDAY, which spent the first 4 weeks in top 3 position at the Estonian box office and had a total 9-week run in cinemas. She currently has a Russian Doll spec and an original pilot script BROKE in her portfolio, the latter advancing to the 2nd Round (Top 20%) at the 2020 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition. In addition to her writing, Liisi has been working as a programmer for the category A film festival Black Nights aka PÖFF. Born and raised in Estonia (you should definitely ask her about vodka socks), she moved to London after graduating her film studies and worked in television broadcasting (where she was cutting Swedish subtitles for Bones without knowing any Swedish whatsoever). She has backpacked around the States, lived and worked in a jungle hostel in Colombia and also lived on her own in a small village in Estonia over winter with nothing but heat from the fireplaces keeping her warm. Sure she can write, but she can also chop wood. And do urge her to tell you about that time she didn't accept an award at Palm Springs International Short Fest. It's a funny story.
