A BAFTA New Talent winning and BAFTA nominated filmmaker; Simone's assured visual style and expressive vision are strongly influenced by her Glaswegian roots. Known for her short films Red (2012), The Rinsing (2013), XX (2017), and SLAP (2018), Simone is an impassioned self-taught filmmaker with a love for learning through making and working intuitively. Simone was raised in the east-end of Glasgow and attended St Annes Primary school and St Mungo's Academy. Simone gained a BA Honours in Computer Animation & Digital Art, an HND in Digital Art & Design, and an Advanced Diploma in Physical Theatre Practice. From 2008-2014 she earned a position at BBC Scotland, working up the ladder from Runner to self-shooting Assistant Producer and Director. Simone then travelled to New York to work with experimental theatre collective The Wooster Group. She has a psychological thriller feature film in development with the Scottish Film Talent Network / BFI; UNTIL SHE BLEEDS. She is interested in making conceptual dramatic works that explore a range of themes including transformation, vulnerability, love, loss, and the challenges of becoming.
