Damson Idris is a British actor and producer born in 1991 in Peckham, London, to Nigerian parents. The youngest of six, he was raised by his single mother, who instilled in him a strong work ethic. Initially set on becoming a footballer, a knee injury led him to acting. He earned a BA in Theatre, Film & Television at Brunel University and trained at Identity School of Acting. Idris began on stage in 2012, gaining critical acclaim in Khadija Is 18 and Pandora’s Box. He later appeared in Hotel at the Royal National Theatre before transitioning to TV with roles in Miranda, Doctors and Casualty. His breakout came in 2017 as Franklin Saint in FX’s Snowfall, created by John Singleton. Idris also starred in The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. On film, he appeared in City of Tiny Lights, Megan Leavey, and The Commuter. In 2018, he won Best Actor at Edinburgh for Farming. He stars in Netflix’s Outside the Wire (2021).
