Actively working in NY, LA, India. With her background in social / political documentaries and moving narratives, Swati Srivastava is an award winning film-maker and a 1st generation immigrant. Swati arrived in the U.S. with an M.B.A. and a job in the corporate world dreaming to be a film-maker. While waiting for her Green Card and citizenship, she moved to L.A., enrolled at UCLA part-time film program finishing it with multiple distinctions, and trained extensively with top coaches such as Judith Weston to hone her craft as director. Swati has written and directed several short films, short documentaries, political commercials, and music videos. Her films have played at numerous film festivals and won several awards. As a documentary film-maker, Swati traveled to India to chronicle the epidemic of farmer suicides. Part of that documentary was aired on CNN- India where it was watched by millions and won their "most important story of the year" award. Swati is working on her first two features; one is a romantic dramedy with Indian characters living in America pursuing their own immigrant dreams. The other is an emotional drama based on true events with three intersecting stories of strangers going through grief and helping each other survive. Swati is also a Behind-The-Scenes Director.
