Experiences are what Mara Katria creates. She uses the varied tools of a musician, film director, videogame world-builder, and photographer to immerse audiences in the depths of history and the perpetuity of genuine emotion. Her commitment to the craft of moving people and the art of communication has seen her receive numerous accolades from film festivals, print publications, and forums dedicated to her varied disciplines. She was awarded Best Director for the feature length film Please Talk With Me at Wilson College Horror Film Fest in 2013. This motion picture (which recreates the C2D1 Haunting of Erie Hall at SUNY Geneseo in 1985) was adapted for screen by Chris Di Cesare and is based on the C2D1 Journal Notes by J. Jeff Ungar. It was produced by William J. Edwards of CITA Productions and stars Kyle Shea (nominated for Best Male Lead at Wilson Film Fest), Aaron Katter, Dawn Sobolewski, Clara Heller, and Nicholas Pearl. PTWM premiered by special invitation at Scare-A-Con Film Fest to a packed house and won Best Feature at Spirit Quest Film Fest in 2014. The docu-thriller was invited back as a headliner of the following Eerie Horror Film Festival, and it continued in conventions though 2019 and beyond. On 20th February 2020 - 20/2/2020 - Mara Katria's debut single "Midnight Mind" was released for the first time on Channel 98.9 FM. The song has gone on to play on several stations including Lehigh Valley's 88.1 FM and ALT-Natives on ALT-92.1 FM. The track features the artist and photographer J. Jeff Ungar and was e-mastered at Real World Studios. Katria also wrote, directed, and edited the song's music video which is now screening in film festivals leading up to public release (slated for spring 2020). "Midnight Mind" has been endowed with multiple Best Music Video awards at international annual festivals. Early honors came from Imagine This Women's International Film Festival, Imaginarium Film Festival, and Sound & Vision International Film Festival. In early 2020, Mara announced that "Midnight Mind" would be followed by an original EP with her friends and heroes, the legendary post punk band Modern English. The album, code-named Modern M, promises to guide listeners on a journey that spans the ribbon of time. Katria said she aims to use music as a mirror: echoing our mythic past; reflecting the sonic renaissance of the 1980s; and projecting epochs yet to come.
