Venk Potula is an award winning Indian American filmmaker and actor based out of Los Angeles, CA. He is a graduate of UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television where he studied Theater and English. While in school, Venk studied filmmaking and acting with professors James Franco, Peter Weller, Judith Moreland, and Marilyn Fox. Venk was personally discovered by Nick Cannon while dancing on the streets of Hollywood, CA, and since then has performed as Nick's hype man on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Queen Latifah Show, and America's Got Talent. Venk can also be spotted in the Lionsgate film School Dance and on television shows such as HBO's Veep, MTV's Wild N Out and Real Husbands of Hollywood with Kevin Hart. He recently directed and starred in Woke, an indie short film which has played in over 20 film festivals across the nation. The film recently won for Best Short Narrative at the Sacramento Asian Pacific American Film Festival and Venk won the award for Best Actor at the Atlanta Comedy Film Festival. Venk also co-created and stars in the scripted comedy podcast, Masala Jones, which launched to critical acclaim in March 2019. The AV Club described season one of Masala Jones as "brilliant, heart-wrenching, funny, and insightful," and included it in their list of "13 Podcasts To Listen To This Week." Radio Ink called it "racy and fun," and Bello Collective added that it was a "total riot." Masala Jones has also been highlighted by The Young Turks, India West, and many more. Venk serves as the President for Khrisp Studios where he produces high quality, character driven short films for upcoming actors and actresses.
