A human rights activist, an author and one of the most prolific international artists in the art world. Today, she lives in Munich, Germany. But, growing up, she and her family lived all over the world; in Pakistan, Spain, Germany, the United States and Canada. Canada is a second home to Shahalimi, who represented the country as a professional volleyball athlete in the World Tour of 2000. It was also there where she earned her college and university degrees in International Politics/South East Asian studies, human rights and the Fine Arts. After having survived the atrocities of war and fleeing her beloved home Afghanistan, she now donates parts of the proceeds of her art shows and projects to humanitarian causes. Shahalimi also initiates and organizes projects to promote and bring awareness to issues supporting evolution of all human kind with education as its base. She is an active supporter of UNICEF Germany and many foundations around the world. With these humanitarian efforts, Shahalimi is also the founder and chairwoman of HOFA e.v., Hope Foundation for Women and Children of Afghanistan. Due to displacement and her background in so many different countries, Nahid Shahalimi has developed the ability to quickly adapt to diverse cultures and local customs. She speaks English, French, German, Persian (Dari) fluently and also has great knowledge of Urdu and Spanish.
