Ellen Bittner grew up in the suburbs of Sacramento, CA. When she was ten, her parents purchased a MiniDV camcorder for the family. Ellen began documenting her life with the video camera, using her siblings and cousins as cast and crew. She became interested in editing around the same time. In the summers of 2007 and 2008, Ellen enrolled in film production courses at the University of Southern California. While in Los Angeles, Ellen wrote and directed her first set of short films and learned to edit using Avid. Ellen graduated from St. Francis High School in 2009 and headed to film school at Loyola Marymount University. In between semesters, Ellen worked as a waitress and scooped ice cream sundaes at Leatherby's in Sacramento. She also worked as an ENG/Editing intern at the local news station and, later, interned at Light Iron in Hollywood. In December 2012, Ellen completed her thesis project for Loyola Marymount University, a 7-minute adventure film entitled, "My Best Friend Max." Ellen has been most-inspired by Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, and Jason Reitman.
